After buying 5 similar Dahua cameras from Amazon(one at a time) and having to return them(one at a time), I decided to buy one from Empire direct on this ipcamtalk.com ‘s store. I was surprised when I received an acknowledgement that mentioned it would be coming from China. However, I was even more surprised when it was delivered here 5 days earlier then expected.
I installed it and it worked flawlessly as hoped.
The reason I had so many failures from Amazon’s Dahua cameras is that all Dahuas come with a stock configuration of 192.168.1.108.
I needed 192.168.0.xxx. Unfortunately, the Dahua config utility has become unworkable and I was unable to make that change. Browsers that used to be able to access these cameras have recently changed and now prohibit this for security reasons.
Andy from Empire accommodated me and made the change.
Thank you Andy!

Just bought and installed this camera, ordered on 12/8, shipped 12/9 from China, received fed ex on 12/14. I used it to replace an older IPC-HDW5231R-Z mounted by my front door. Did a quick setup for orientation and zoom, no picture tweaking at all, and it looks really good, better than the 5231 it replaced, so very happy with this camera.
I setup my system a few years ago with Blue Iris 4, but setup was quick and painless with the new camera, easier than I expected it to be.
The varifocal – zoom option is nice, to optimize the framing of the picture, I have it zoomed pretty far out but may tweak that a little.
The 5231 was moved to replace a cheaper cam that failed, and it looks much better than the one it failed. Wish I could replace more of my existing system, but will wait for another cheap (not Dahua) cam to fail so I can buy another of these.
